DR. RAZIN P.
Philippe Razin holds a Ph.D. in sedimentology in 1989 from the Bordeaux University, sponsored by the research center of Elf-Aquitaine. He has been working during 8 years in the French Geological Survey before going back to the Bordeaux University in 1998 as aa full-time professor. He is mainly teaching sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and basin analysis. He is also responsible for several field courses in the Spanish Pyrenees, Morocco and Oman. He has supervised 15 PhD students from 2000 to 2018 on various topics. These main research activities concern the architecture and dynamic of wide carbonate and siliciclastic platforms, the relationships between tectonics, diapirism and sedimentation and the carbonate turbiditic systems. These research projects are largely supported by oil companies (Total, Statoil, NIOC, PDO, ADCO,Saudi Aramco,Repsol, etc.) and mainly developed in the Middle-East (Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, Egypt), in Morocco and in the Pyrenees. He uses to organize various field-trips for oil companies and other institutions in the Middle-East, Morocco and Pyrenees on basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy and tectonic-sedimentation relationships, using both outcrop and seismic data.
