    Philippe Razin holds a Ph.D. in sedimentology in 1989 from the Bordeaux University, sponsored by the research center of Elf-Aquitaine. He has been working during 8 years in the French Geological Survey before going back to the Bordeaux University in 1998 as aa full-time professor. He is mainly teaching sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy and basin analysis. He is also responsible for several field courses in the Spanish Pyrenees, Morocco and Oman. He has supervised 15 PhD students from 2000 to 2018 on various topics. These main research activities concern the architecture and dynamic of wide carbonate and siliciclastic platforms, the relationships between tectonics, diapirism and sedimentation and the carbonate turbiditic systems. These research projects are largely supported by oil companies (Total, Statoil, NIOC, PDO, ADCO,Saudi Aramco,Repsol, etc.) and mainly developed in the Middle-East (Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, Egypt), in Morocco and in the Pyrenees. He uses to organize various field-trips for oil companies and other institutions in the Middle-East, Morocco and Pyrenees on basin analysis, sequence stratigraphy and tectonic-sedimentation relationships, using both outcrop and seismic data.

His technical publications have been internationally recognized with over 3,000 citations. He was an AAPG Distinguished Lecturer and received the AAPG Citation of Excellence and Special Commendation Award. Mateu was based in Madrid as External Advisor in Carbonate Geology with Repsol. As the founder of Carbonates International Iberia S.L. based in Mallorca, he was involved in consultation with Shell, NorskHydro, Repsol, PDO, Enron, Petronas, Petrobras, Apache, etc. Before, he was Staff Research Scientist with AMOCO Production Co., based in Tulsa (Ok), leading research on karst and unconformity related reservoirs. He was Fullbright Scholar at the University of Miami with Dr. Ginsburg, and Visiting Scientist at the Universities of Wisconsin and Liverpool.

    Herbert Th. Eichenseer received a Ph.D. in geology from Tübingen University (Germany) in 1987. Joining ELF E&P (1991 to 2000) and subsequently TOTAL EP (2000 until 2013), he has worked in numerous projects involving sedimentology of carbonate reservoirs and shallow marine to fluvial clastics. From 2000 to 2004, he held the position of TOTAL's expert in carbonate geology. Then he joined TOTAL LIBYE (2004 to 2009) as chief geologist, and worked from 2007 to 2013 with TOTAL MAURITANIE, until 2009 as chief geologist, and later as senior exploration manager. Herbert retired from TOTAL by end 2013. Since then, he is a passionate field geologist in the Spanish Pyrenees, and has been involved in consulting and coaching projects.

His main fields of research are facies sedimentology, basin architecture and associate reservoirs. With ELF-EP he spent five years developing understanding of turbidite and basin plumbing systems. He was supervisor for more than 30 Master Thesis and 19 PhD, and managed numerous cited publications on these topics.
